Teaming up with Vapelabs to tackle vape waste.

We’ve partnered with Vapelabs to launch an exciting trial program for vape recycling! We’re officially in the process of onboarding pharmacies across Australia to provide a safe drop-off solution for used vapes - helping to combat the staggering statistic of over 1 million vapes ending up in landfill every week.

The vape cloud is bigger than ever

Vapes are considered a triple threat: they’re plastic, hazardous and electronic waste.

With more than 700,000 Australians using e-cigarettes daily, improper disposal poses a major risk. Vapes thrown in kerbside bins can ignite in trucks and waste facilities due to lithium-ion batteries, while those dumped in landfill risk leaking toxic chemicals such as battery acid, lithium and nicotine into the environment.

“We all see vapes turning up in the wrong places - bins, streets, even parks. The truth is, most people just don’t know what to do with them. This partnership is about making it super simple: drop them at a pharmacy or book a Pickup, and we’ll take care of the rest. Easy, safe, and better for everyone.” - Giorgio, CEO of ReSmart.

How do vapes get recycled?

We partner with certified e-waste recyclers where vapes undergo multiple chemical processes until they’re treated. Then, they go through a battery recycling plant which is a mechanical milling with a series of separation processes - ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastic, black mass and any other rubbish.

ReSmart and Vapelabs aim to create a long-term solution for both reducing vape littering and encouraging vape recycling.

Individuals outside pilot areas can book a ReSmart Pickup via resmart.co to have vapes and other hard-to-recycle items collected from their doorstep.

Stay connected as we will soon announce the locations of these drop-off points.

Cheers,

The ReSmart Team.
